Sebastian and the Afterlife: Book 2. Agents of the Reaper.

The second book starts exactly where the first book left off. Sebastian and Onyx are agents in training, preparing to become full agents of the spirit world they have chosen to remain a part of for now. The teenagers and main characters of this story seem to have their priorities in a much better place than the power hungry adults who have been around for hundreds of years. All I can say, without saying too much, is that it's all about to hit the fan!!
The thing I like most about this book is the way William j. Barry takes the idea of what could happen after we die, and turns it into a phenomenal and mesmerizing story. He has such an eye for detail. I can see the story unfolding right In front of me as all the cares and responsibilities of my day just fall away.
There is a glimpse of a future love interest as the ending of this book leaves all kinds of story lines hanging.
If you are reading an e-book there is also a surprise at the very end so keep reading until you run out of pages.
We've all pondered what will happen after this life. Barry's version of the afterlife is exciting, adventurous and purposeful. This series would make an amazing movie. I can't wait for the next installment of this wonderfully well written series.

My review

So my final decision is....crack!! This book was so addictive, I couldn't put it down.
So the story begins with Sebastian leaving his house to see his girlfriend Sarah. He doesn't make it very far because the last thing he sees is the big oak tree in his front yard. He comes to in a field unaware yet that he is dead. It doesn't take him long though, when he realizes he can fly there is little doubt that he is not in the mortal world any longer.

Sebastian meets the grim reaper and instead of going to the other side, he is now in a type of purgatory where souls go to work out any unrest that may exist with them. He ends up being lead by his orb to a school in this spirit world for all spirits his age like a high school.
This school is here to help with teaching these young spirits about all they need to learn about their new powers so they can prepare for the afterlife.
Unbeknownst to them there is an evil spirit called Axis Red planning to take over this world and all power existing within.
One surprise for me in this book is the Grim Reaper's character. Apparently he has been misunderstood much like the Wicked witch of the west. His character in this book is to maintain the safety for all souls who enter this spirit world.
Creative, imaginative and thought provoking!

Very well written with strong as well as likable characters. This has all the makings of a great movie.
Definitely recommend as a young adult book. Highly recommend to all avid readers.
It's good to see the imagination of the author. I can't wait to start the next book in this series.

First thoughts on the book.

The genre of the book is young adult supernatural.
It caught my attention right away, much like the hunger games, only it could be better, but too soon to tell!

Sebastian and the Afterlife
